Since the ground has not really frozen, some of the bulbs that require a hard freeze may have started to germinate early and also may not be as abundant.  Insects such as the Lyme tick, scales and mites are looking at a banner season.  Finally, storm damage either by wind or falling limbs may require additional pruning this year.  Please keep these things in mind as you consider your landscape maintenance program for 2012.

One of the most common questions for families is whether to take on the expense of a pool.  This is a substantial undertaking. Beside the cost of the pool, there is the permit process and the inconvenience of the construction.  Certainly if your backyard becomes the gathering spot for the neighborhood children this could be good or bad depending on your view.  Unfortunately the truth is that pools can be a negative when trying to sell your house or can limit future expansion of your home as your family grows.
