Masonry, Stonework and Hardscapes
Hardscapes enhance your landscaping and provide function to the design. This can be accomplished using a variety of materials such as brick, concrete pavers, bluestone and crab orchard stone and is an integral part of the design in most gardens. Lighting and audio can also be installed to highlight this area.
Masonry is generally a highly durable form of construction. However, the materials used, the quality of the mortar and workmanship, and the pattern the units are put in can strongly affect the durability of the overall masonry construction. Kito Nursery only uses the best quality materials and application process. Our guarantee is rare in the industry and reflects our confidence in our people and willingness to insure your happiness with all aspects of your project. Brick, stone such as marble, granite, travertine, limestone, concrete block, glass block, and tile can be installed inside or outside and our designers will ensure that the colors, texture, and surface are appropriate for the location and your family.
Retaining Walls
A retaining wall is a structure that holds back earth from a building or other structure. Retaining walls stabilize soil and/or rock from downslope movement or erosion and provide support for large grade changes. These have become an important part of landscapes on Long Island.
The most important consideration in proper design and installation of retaining walls is the knowledge that the retained material is attempting to move forward and downslope due to gravity. This creates soil pressure behind the wall that can be increased dramatically by rainwater if drainage is not installed properly. Kito Nursery, with years of experience, has installed hundreds of walls in towns across Long Island and has a great relationship and reputation with the building inspectors who serve these towns.
Retaining walls are customarily made of masonry, stone, brick, or concrete; and can be faced in stone or other materials to enhance your landscape.
